Terms and Conditions
These are the conditions that govern your camper rental with Outbase Overland. By confirming your booking, you declare that you have read and accepted them.
1Company Information
OUTBASE is operated by OBRASUR HORIZONTE SpA, Tax ID (RUT) 78.242.263-4, based in Punta Arenas, Chile. We specialize in compact 4x4 vehicles equipped to explore Patagonia with flexibility and comfort.
2Bookings and Payments
To confirm a booking, a payment of 65% of the total value is required. The remaining balance must be paid at least 7 days before the rental start date. For bookings made less than 7 days in advance, full payment is required at the time of confirmation.
Payments can be made by bank transfer or credit card. Card payments include a 3% surcharge for processing costs.
3Cancellation Policy
Cancellations must be requested in writing by email. We understand that plans can change, so the following conditions apply depending on how far in advance the cancellation is made:
- 30 days or more in advance: the total amount paid will be refunded minus $50,000 CLP for administrative costs. For card payments, the 3% processing fee will also be withheld.
- Between 29 and 15 days before pick-up: 50% of the total rental value will be refunded.
- 14 days or less: no refund will be issued.
In all cases, bank or credit card fees are non-refundable.
4Currency and Exchange Rate
All values are expressed in Chilean pesos (CLP). If payment is made in a foreign currency, the amount will be converted to CLP using the exchange rate in effect on the day of the transaction, according to the rate published by the Central Bank of Chile or the one applied by the payment-processing bank.
5Security Deposit
A refundable security deposit of $1,500,000 CLP is required, which will be blocked on a credit card at the time of vehicle pick-up. This is a standard pre-authorization process, so no actual charge is made unless necessary.
If you purchase Full Coverage Insurance —a daily-rate add-on—, the deposit is reduced to $400,000 CLP.
The deposit covers possible damage to the vehicle or equipment, as well as additional costs such as fines, missing fuel, or cleaning if applicable. It will be released once the vehicle is returned and inspected, within a maximum of 5 business days.
6Insurance and Liability
The vehicle carries standard automotive insurance. This insurance does not cover the camping equipment —rooftop tent, kitchen, awning, tires, and exterior accessories—, damage to which is covered by the security deposit described in Section 5.
Full Coverage Insurance is precisely the add-on that covers this equipment damage not covered by the automotive insurance; by purchasing it, the required deposit drops from $1,500,000 to $400,000 CLP.
No coverage applies in cases of proven negligence or improper use of the vehicle.
7Driver Requirements
Drivers must be at least 22 years old and hold a valid driver's license with a minimum of 2 years of driving history. A maximum of two drivers is allowed per rental.
8Pick-up and Drop-off
Vehicle pick-up and drop-off take place Monday through Friday between 09:00 and 17:00, at the previously agreed location.
The vehicle must be returned on the established date and time. In case of delay, a charge of $30,000 CLP will apply for each additional hour, up to a maximum of 3 hours. Beyond that, a full additional day of rental will be charged.
The vehicle will be delivered with a set fuel level, which will be recorded at the start of the rental. The renter agrees to return it with the same level. Otherwise, a charge of $50,000 CLP plus the cost of the missing fuel will apply.
9Vehicle Use
The vehicle must be used responsibly and in accordance with the laws and conditions of the environment. Patagonia presents unique conditions, so safe driving is required at all times.
Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited, as is driving in restricted areas such as rivers, beaches, or salt water. Crossing international borders without authorization is also not permitted.
10Mileage Policy
The rental includes 250 km per day. Additional kilometers will be charged at $130 CLP per extra kilometer.
11Crossing into Argentina
Crossing into Argentina must be requested at least 7 days in advance to arrange the necessary documentation. This service costs $7,000 CLP per day, calculated over the total days of your rental (not just the days spent in that country).
Requests made with less notice will incur a $90,000 CLP surcharge for urgent processing.
12Camper Equipment
The vehicle includes camping equipment such as a rooftop tent, kitchen, and exterior accessories. Coverage for damage to this equipment is governed by Section 6 (Insurance and Liability).
13Cleaning
The vehicle is expected to be returned in reasonable condition. If additional cleaning is required, charges will apply according to the vehicle's condition.
The optional advance cleaning coverage does not cover stains or damage.
14Damage and Vehicle Downtime
In the event of damage, the renter will be responsible for repair costs, as well as for lost rental income while the vehicle is unavailable.
15Accidents and Reporting
Any accident must be reported within 24 to 48 hours and must include a police report when applicable.
Failure to follow this procedure may result in full liability for the damages caused.
16Limitation of Liability
OUTBASE is not responsible for trip interruptions, weather conditions, loss of bookings, or personal belongings. Travel insurance is recommended.
17Communication
Email and WhatsApp will be considered valid means of communication for all matters related to the rental.
18Acceptance
By signing the quote, the renter declares that they have read and accepted these terms and conditions.
